Ian Tometich, Drum Instructor

Ian Tometich comes to the Denver School of Music with years of experience teaching, performing live, session work, and competitions. Ian began playing in sixth grade concert band. He continued, playing in orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz combos, big bands, and commercial groups through high school. Ian studied drumset and percussion with Ryan Schwartz in Montana, drumset and snare drum with Paul Johnson of Anaheim, California, and drumset with Mike Marlier of Denver.

In addition to drumset and percussion instruction, Ian has studied theory with Dr. Phil Theodoro of San Clemente, California. He studied jazz theory and improvisation with Joey Sellers at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California and Lynn Baker of Denver. He is continuing his music education at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. At Lamont, Ian has performed in jazz combos, big bands, commercial groups, the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, and wind ensemble. In addition to school, Ian has recorded and performed live with various combos and commercial groups throughout metro Denver and Colorado. Ian currently performs with the band, Singletrack, and is in the pit, playing drumset for the musical, “Newsical” at the Denver Civic Theatre.

Teaching privately for the past four years, Ian looks forward to bringing his extensive knowledge of styles, technique, drumset performance, recording, and music theory to the students at the Denver School of Music.
