Portia Curlee, Voice and Piano Instructor

Portia Curlee comes to the Denver School of Music as a music lover and enthusiast. As a child, she sang in church and school groups. She began piano lessons at age 8, and by high school was privately studying piano, voice, and violin. In addition to private voice study in high school, she sang in the Colorado All-State choirs, school groups, and performing in musicals in high school and around the community.

She studied voice and piano at the University of Colorado at Denver and voice at Colorado University, singing in jazz groups as well as the University of Colorado choir.

Portia eventually decided to include literature in her studies, and now teaches high school English. She holds a Master’s in Education and English, and is versed in some of the most effective methods of education. She continues to be involved in music by playing piano, singing, and now learning guitar and recording here at the Denver School of Music.
